Introducing Ingenza

Ingenza Ltd. is a biocatalyst and bioprocess development company which incorporated in September 2002 as a spin out from the School of Chemistry at the University of Edinburgh. The company became operational in May 2003, rapidly establishing a broad customer base and a platform for the commercial application of its proprietary biocatalysis technology to manufacture chiral amines and amino acids at high enantiomeric purity. The company has an experienced scientific and commercial team with a background in applied biocatalysis and the development of technology and products for the fine chemical, food and pharmaceutical industries. In addition to its proprietary bioprocess technology, Ingenza offers tailored biocatalysis solutions on a client specific basis.

Ingenza's proprietary deracemisation technology is built upon a foundation of research in Professor Nicholas Turner's group at the University of Edinburgh, Ingenza is currently developing this technology for the industrial production of optically pure amino acids and amines from their corresponding racemates, with yields and enantiomeric excesses approaching 100%. The deracemisation process is tailored for specific molecule applications in house by Ingenza and in collaboration with customers and partners.
